Our Father's Return

My friend likes to watch videos online about kids whose parent's are in the military...In these videos their parents make a surprise return home when the kids least expect it. We were talking about them one time and she sent this to me:

Imagine having a dad in the military. He is gone for months at a time; right now, he’s in Iraq fighting a war. Now, imagine going about your own business on a normal day at school, when suddenly, he walks into the lunchroom unannounced. What would you do? How would you react, if your dad shows up out of nowhere after being away for months? You didn’t expect it; it just happened. You might cry out of happiness and run as fast as you can to hug him.

A lot of people have experienced this, so they know exactly what they would do, but many people haven’t; a lot of people don’t even have a dad in the military. I haven’t had it happen to me, but it makes me so happy every time I watch a Youtube video about it. I try to imagine such a surprise, and maybe you do, too. I’ll bet that whatever you imagine isn’t anywhere near what you would actually feel. You know what I’m thinking of that’ll be similar to that surprise homecoming of your dad who you haven’t seen in months? I’ll give you a hint: the feeling will be kind of the same, but way more powerful. And, you might fall to your knees before you’re able to run. That’s right, I’m thinking of when Jesus comes to Earth to see us, His children. It’s very hard to imagine what that will be like, even for the people who have been surprised before. God said we won’t know when the day will come that Jesus comes to Earth, so it will be a complete surprise for us. I imagine that it will be a normal day, and suddenly, Jesus will descend from Heaven. It will be the best day of our lives! Our Father loves us, and I know I love my Dad in Heaven. I can’t wait until He comes to Earth! It will be amazing for all of us, the best surprise ever. I love surprises.

I agree with her about the fact that it will be a surprise. The Bible says that no one will know when Jesus will come back. It could be five minutes from now, it could be five days from now...five weeks, five months...five years, five decades, five centuries...we don't know. We never will. Until it happens. That's why we MUST be witnessing to other people, and teaching them about Jesus. So that it won't be such a big surprise that they'll be left behind when all of the Christians go to be with Jesus...
