Forgiveness Part 1

Two songs come to mind when I think about God's forgiveness for us...

They're both by a band called Hyland, and I've mentioned one of them before.

How many times can I fail you/before you say you're through/That you've had enough, never/ A thousand times have I fallen/and still you keep callin/You never give up, never/You said that you'd never leave/That you're all I need/You'd never give up

Never by Hyland

Love is leading me
Holding nail-scarred hands
Forgetting where I'm from or who I've been
Love has carried me
On His broken back
To a place where I can finally see
This love is free

This Love is Free by Hyland

The amazing thing about forgiveness is, we don't deserve it. But God gives it to us. Because of Jesus' death on the cross, all we have to do is repent for what we've done.
A lot of people just ask for forgiveness, and then keep on doing what they did wrong in the first place.
The word Repent literally means  "To feel such regret for past conduct as to change one's mind regarding it"
Repenting means to not only be sorry for what you've done, but to turn from it.

Once we repent, Jesus forgives us. He's already forgiven us for everything. His death on the cross was an ultimate act of love and forgiveness.

Mark 11:25 And whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father also who is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.

1 John 2:12 I am writing to you, little children, because your sins are forgiven for his name’s sake.

Isaiah 1:18 “Come now, let us reason together, says the LORD: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool."

Hebrews 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus …

Jesus will forgive us, and there is no condemnation in Him! We don't have to worry about being "Clean" before God, because He already cleanses us. No matter what you've done, or who you've been, Jesus loves you and forgives you completely. He forgives you so completely that you can become a new person.

You don't have to be ashamed about all of your past mistakes, you have been remade in Jesus, because He loves you that much :)
